Over the past few years, I have slowly been changing out the products I use for ones with natural ingredients. This transition started when I became pregnant with my daughter, Kayleigh. I knew I wanted to use natural products with my children, as I was concerned about ingredients in various household products and their effect on our well-being.

Finding the right products for my family has taken a bit of trial and error, and I am not absolutely perfect in my endeavors to use only natural products, but I have taken a huge step in the right direction. As they say, any progress is good progress. When I go shopping now, I try to take a look at the ingredients list in the products I buy, and look for simple ingredients lists with ingredients that I recognize.

I was born and raised in the state of Maine, so when I finally made the #DeoSwitch, naturally I chose to switch to Tom’s of Maine natural deodorant. I was really drawn to all of the different varieties available – unscented, lavender, powder, tea tree, apricot and lemongrass.

I really like wearing the unscented version of Tom’s of Maine natural deodorant when I am spending time outside going for walks, playing with the kids, gardening, etc. I find that it helps to keep the bugs away from me, as there is no scent for them to be attracted to.

My favorite of all of the scents is the natural powder one, but I really do enjoy them all. I have been using this deodorant for a little while now, and it really does work very well.

Tom’s of Maine is a company that I trust. They make high quality natural toothpaste, mouthwash, dental floss, deodorant, bar soap and baby care products, and their team consists of distinguished dentists, scientists and herbal experts that are leaders in their fields. I love that they have developed  a wide range of products and choices so people can decide what best fits with their needs and values.

One more thing I really love about Tom’s of Maine is their fully recyclable packaging through local municipalities or the TerraCycle Tom’s of Maine Natural Care Brigade. I think it’s so great that they not only offer natural products, but packaging that can be easily recycled too. If that wasn’t enough, they also give 10% of their profits back to helping people and the planet!

A Note About Natural Products:

When trying a natural personal care product for the first time it’s important to give your body time to adjust. If your body is used to a conventional product, you might need a little time to adjust to a natural formula free of chemicals and artificial ingredients. Trying the deodorant for at least 3-7 days, including testing out different scents (or unscented), can help determine the best fit for your body’s unique chemistry.
