I participated in an Influencer Activation on behalf of Influence Central for KitchenIQ. I received promotional items to thank me for my participation.
I really enjoy making delicious home-cooked meals for my family, but dinner time in my house is always crazy. My husband, John, gets home from work around 5:00 most nights, and the kids (2.5 and 8 months old) turn into wild animals. To save our sanity, we try to get both of them in bed by 7:30, so that doesn’t leave a whole lot of time to prepare and eat dinner.
Usually I’m rushing around the kitchen like a mad woman, trying to get everything done. Trying to prepare dinner with a whining baby and toddler hanging off of you is no easy feat! To help my dinner preparation go a little smoother, I have several kitchen tools and appliances to make meal preparation easier and faster.
I have been collecting these tools and appliances over the years, and I recently added a few more tools from Kitchen IQ to my collection, and had a little party with my Mom, sisters and a couple of friends to show them off.
First up, was the Better Zester. When I showed my sister, Angela, this zester, she literally squealed with excitement. She told me she had been wanting a zester for a very long time, and I was so happy to be able to give an extra one to her. Everyone at my party got one!
This zester is the coolest zester I have ever seen. It has a stainless steel v-etched blade, which is perfect for zesting all kinds of citruses. We had our party late in the morning, so we whipped up a batch of lemon blueberry muffins, and zested some fresh lemon peel right into the batter.
There are so many things that I love about this zester. First of all, it works super fast. We had that whole lemon zested in a flash. Second, I absolutely love that it has a container to hold the zest for you, and that it also measures it! How cool is that?! Then, as you slide the container off the zester, it also collects the zest off of the back for you, so you don’t have to pick it out yourself. Love!
While I absolutely adored the Better Zester, I think my favorite tool was the Potato Tool. I have lived in Maine my whole life, and let me tell you, we eat A LOT of potatoes here! In Northern Maine, they actually give kids time off from school to help pick potatoes during potato season. That’s just how much we love our potatoes around here.
Anyway, I cook with potatoes several times per week. I love them mashed, baked, chopped up and fried, in french fry form, scalloped, any way you could possibly think to make them. I would never, ever turn down a potato in any fashion. For my party, we decided to make a potato hash to go with our muffins.
As much as I love potatoes, they can be kind of a pain to wash, peel and cut. That is why I love the Potato Tool so much. It is a 3-in-1 tool that helps with each of those chores.
It has a scrub brush for super fast cleaning of the potatoes and other veggies, a straight edge peeler with non-stick stainless steel coated blades and a paring knife that stores safely inside of the peeler.
It also has a soft grip, non-slip handle to make doing all of those things more comfortable for your hands. I have gotten so much use out of this tool, and I don’t think I could live without it now!
The last new kitchen tool I received was the Edge Grip Knife Sharpener, which is awesome! I love to cook with fresh vegetables, and I chop up fruit for my daughter all day long, so I am constantly using my knives.
Because I use my knives so often, they tend to get dull pretty quickly. A dull knife will not only slow you down in the kitchen, but it also poses a safety hazard.
The Edge Grip Knife Sharpener has a unique design that will sharpen straight edge double-beveled European and American style knives. It has two stages of sharpening – course to quickly sharpen dull or damaged knives and fine to lightly touch-up already sharp knives. It also has an edge grip bottom that allows for stable sharpening on the counter top or the edge of the counter top or table.
Prior to using this tool, my knives were quite dull, and after just a few pulls through the knife sharpener, they were like new again. Color me impressed! This tool was designed right here in the USA by Smith’s Consumer Products, Inc., the Edge Experts Since 1886, so you know it’s got to be a high quality knife sharpener!
My guests were all very impressed by the quality of the Kitchen IQ tools, and my Mom and sisters have already asked me to get them a knife sharpener and potato tool for them for Christmas!
