My body has completely changed after giving birth to my two children. I’m 40 pounds heavier, have a soft tummy that’s covered in stretch marks, my feet are a size and a half bigger, and I now experience light bladder leakage more often than I care to talk about. Awesome.
I was at my daughter’s 2nd birthday party a few weeks ago, and I had an embarrassing bladder leakage moment. We had her birthday party at an outdoor picnic area near a large pond, so I really had to keep my eye on her, as she is constantly on the move, and I didn’t want her getting into the water. She was kicking a ball around, and it started to roll away, right towards the pond. Of course, she started running after it, so I started running after her. I didn’t get too far before I felt it. Light bladder leakage.
There was no bathroom in sight, so I had to just sort of deal with it until I got home after the party. I felt so awkward and uncomfortable after. Light bladder leakage at 33 years old. I never thought I would have to deal with this problem at such a young age, but I now know that it’s actually very common for younger people to experience bladder leakage.
Did you know?
More people with bladder leakage are in their 20’s than their 80’s.
Theaverage age of someone with bladder leakage is only 52!
More people with bladder leakage are 50 or younger than 60 or old!
So, now that I have light bladder leakage, what am I going to do about it? I certainly don’t want it to slow me down, or embarrass me again, like it did at my daughter’s birthday party.
After doing a little research, I found Depend Silhouette Active Briefs. I know what you’re probably thinking… Depends are for old people, right? Well, no, not anymore. Depend has been working hard to break down the stigma associated with bladder leakage. There are so many women that experience it, so why should we all have to suffer and be embarrassed by it? Depend Silhouette Active Briefs have a low rise, and they look and feel like real underwear! I was really quite surprised at how comfortable they are. They even come in black and beige, so they don’t stick out like a sore thumb.
I recently picked up a box of these Depend Silhouette Active Briefs at Walmart. When I got to the checkout, of course there was a young guy standing there. Now, normally, if I were buying depends in front of a younger man, I would be completely embarrassed, but these look so much like real underwear, and the Depend logo is so small on the box, that I don’t even think he noticed that I was buying bladder leakage protection. I absolutely love how discreet these are.
Depend is entering year two of Underwareness, a social movement and charitable cause to break down the bladder leakage stigma. As part of Underwareness, the Depend brand is encouraging people to show their support for women with bladder leakage.
For every photo and video shared using #Underwareness and featuring Depend products, the Depend brand will donate $1, up to $3 million, through 2016 to fund charities that advance the research and education of bladder leakage!
