Disclosure: This is a sponsored brand ambassador post with Find Your Influence for LifeLock. All opinions are my own.

It’s been quite a long time since I have traveled very far out of the State of Maine.  I believe the last time was in 2006, when I went on a cruise to the Caribbean with my parents and sisters.  It’s been way too long, and I am in desperate need of a getaway before the snow starts falling again.

John and I have planned a road trip to Niagara Falls in September, and I cannot wait!  While it’s been really exciting to plan where we will be staying, and researching the best restaurants and local attractions, financial security has always been in the back of my mind.

We haven’t even left for our trip yet, and we have already used our credit card online to buy tickets to a concert (did I mention we will be seeing Lorde in Concert at the Artpark??!!), and to book hotel reservations at three different hotels, each in a different state.  As we make our way from Maine to New York, a 10.5 hour trip by vehicle, we will also be stopping for gas, stopping at restaurants and convenience stores.  That’s a lot of credit card use, at a lot of different places, and that really scares me!

credit card graphic

In addition to using our credit cards at so many different locations, I am wary because well, let’s face it, my mind isn’t as focused as it used to be.  I think ever since I became a Mom, my mind started trying to focus on a million different things at once, and I have a hard time keeping track of things, like my purse, for instance.  I wouldn’t put it past myself to just up and leave my purse some place that’s unsafe while on vacation.  I tend to get wrapped up in the moment, and forget about the important things, like making sure my purse is in my possession all of the time.

I have had my credit card information stolen on more than one occasion in the past.  One time, someone had attempted to use it to pay a bridge toll in Spain.  Another time, someone tried to buy a plane ticket at an Australian airport.  These people are having way more fun than I am, and trying to at MY expense!  Luckily, my bank did not recognize the charges, since they were out of country, and very unusual for me, and did not let them go through.  I can’t say the same thing would happen if my credit card information was stolen and used here in the US, however.  I’m always reading in the newspaper, about these employees that steal customers’ credit card information, and then use it to buy a bunch of stuff at local stores.  That probably would not send any red flags to my bank, since it is a local purchase, and they could rack up thousands of dollars in charges before I even knew anything was going on.

I really want to be able to relax and enjoy our vacation, without worrying about our financial security.  So, I’m being proactive, and signed up for a one-year membership to Lifelock.  Now, I feel much safer! Lifelock graphicLifelock offers 5 different points of protection for their membersMonitoring Your Identity (via public and court records), Scanning for Identity Threats, Responding to Identity Theft, a $1,000,000 Guarantee for their Services, and also Tracking Your Credit Score.  They help protect your personal information using a combination of data surveillance techniques and outstanding member service, 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.  It sure feels nice to have someone looking out for me at all times, even during the times I forget to look out for myself.

Credit Card Statements

In addition to all of that, Lifelock also works with major credit bureaus on your behalf to help remove your name from mailing lists for preapproved credit offers.  I don’t need any more credit cards.  If I did, I would seek them out myself.  I don’t need to get dozens of credit card offers in the mail every month.  Not only is it annoying, but it’s a huge security risk.  What if someone were to get their hands on one of those and sign up for a credit card in my name?  Yikes!

This review and giveaway was made possible by Double Duty Divas and Febreze. I was compensated for my participation in this campaign, but all opinions are 100% mine.

I love having guests over for dinner, to play games, or for a movie night, but I often worry about how my house smells to outsiders when they visit.  We have two cats and a toddler still in diapers, so it can get pretty smelly in here sometimes, especially during the hot summer months when odors seems to linger.

It’s very easy to become “Noseblind” to the smells in your own home, since you are there all the time and become accustomed to them.  For visitors, though, it’s easier to pick up on all of the not so pleasant odors that may be lurking in your home.

I recently hosted a movie night at my house with my sister and her boyfriend.  Febreze sent me a package of their Meadows and Rain products to eliminate the odors in my house, but first, we all had to take a survey about the odors in my home.  Boy, was I nervous!  I didn’t see their results, but I was really afraid that they might have smelled my cats or toddler, or the Chinese food we had for dinner before they came over.

Febreze Products

After the survey, I popped some popcorn.  What’s a movie night without popcorn, right?  Well, we all know how strong of a smell popcorn makes.  Once you pop a bag of popcorn, the smell just completely takes over the whole house.  We were then asked to take another survey, and I’m sure that everyone could only smell the popcorn at that point.

We watched our movie, and then at the end of it, we were asked to take another survey.  By then, we had become accustomed to the smell of popcorn, and while it still lingered in the house, it wasn’t as powerful and obvious as it had been after I had just popped it.  I wondered if my guests had started to smell cat or toddler smells again.

Finally, I broke out the Febreze products, and within just a couple of minutes, my house was smelling fresh and clean, and I couldn’t smell the popcorn, or anything but pleasant scents anymore.  We were asked to take another survey, and I am sure my guests could only smell the wonderful Febreze scents at the point, too.  Febreze completely eliminates odors instead of just covering them up!

Febreze SprayWhat about you?  Have you ever noticed that you have gotten used to a smell?  You can take the Noseblind Test for yourself here.  Don’t forget to follow Febreze on Twitter and Facebook, too!

This post brought to you by Listerine. All opinions are 100% mine.

I have always been one to keep up with a good oral hygiene regimen.  I love the feeling of a fresh, clean mouth.  I think it's one of those small joys in life.  I actually enjoyed going to the dentist as a kid, and still do as an adult, every six months!  It's so important to take care of your teeth.  Plus, my parents spent a good amount of money on braces for me in highschool, so it's important to me to protect that investment.  And yes, I think a beautiful, healthy smile is a great investment.

A huge part of my oral hygiene routine is rinsing my mouth with LISTERINE® on a daily basis, as it is the #1 dentist recommended brand, and leaves my mouth clean and healthy.  While LISTERINE® is something I use very often, it's also something I hide in the cabinet under my sink. Let's face it, that giant bottle kind of sticks out like a sore thumb, right?

Well, not anymore!  Now, you can find these super stylish chevron bottles of LISTERINE®, exclusively at Target.  Instead of sticking out like a sore thumb, they blend nicely into your bathroom decor, and actually look pretty.  They are a nice way to add a little pizzazz to your bathroom countertop!

Chevron Listerine

These bottles come in 4 different flavors, each with their own color – Cool Mint, Fresh Mint, Arctic Mint, & Fresh Citrus.  My personal favorite is the Arctic Mint.  It's so refreshing.  What's your favorite?

This post brought to you by American Frozen Foods Institute and the Frozen Food Roundtable. All opinions are 100% mine.

So, there’s this thing that happens in Maine during the month of July.  It finally hits the high 80’s to low 90’s, and everyone here begins to melt.  We are not used to this hot weather.  To us, 50 degrees is considered a warm day.

The last few weeks have been absolute torture for me, and the last thing on my mind is cooking a big meal for breakfast, lunch or dinner.  I don’t want to deal with the meal prep., the oven or stove being on for more than a short period of time, or with the mess that comes with cooking.

I have always been a huge fan of frozen foods.  They are so easy and convenient, and taste great too.  I used to work outside the home in a small law office, and I would stock the freezer full of frozen foods for my breakfasts and lunches.  I worked 30 minutes away from home, so going home for lunch just wasn’t an option, and while there were many restaurants nearby, it was just not in my budget to eat out every day.  It was so convenient to have breakfast and lunch right at my fingertips whenever I wanted it.

Now that I stay at home, I still keep the freezer stocked with my favorite frozen foods.  I find myself eating frozen foods even more during these hot summer months, because I don’t have to put a lot of effort into getting something to eat.  I’m so busy blogging, picking up my house and watching Kayleigh, that I just don’t have time to cook for myself.

There are so many benefits of frozen foods, like the fact that I get to control my food selections, which is really amazing.  I get to pick out exactly what I like to eat, and there are SO many options to choose from!    You’d also be surprised to learn all of the pros & cons of fresh vs frozen

Frozen food is made from real recipes and real ingredients. Freezing is simply a natural pause button that keeps just picked, just baked and just crafted foods at the peak of freshness, and locks in flavor and nutrients.  Check out Frozen. How Fresh Stays Fresh for more details about frozen foods.

For breakfast, I really enjoy Eggo Waffles or Pillsbury Toaster Strudels.  I have enjoyed both of these since I was a kid.  It’s so nice to wake up in the morning, grab an Eggo Waffle or Toaster Strudel out of the freezer, pop it into the toaster for a couple of minutes, and have a delicious breakfast ready for me to enjoy before I start my day.

Eggo Waffles

Eggo Waffles

Kayleigh has also become a huge fan of the Eggo Waffles.  I haven’t given her a Toaster Strudel yet, because I’m afraid if I did, she would never want to eat anything else again, because they are so sweet and yummy!

Toaster Strudel

For lunch, I really enjoy a Lean Cuisine or Hot Pocket, depending on the day.  The Hot Pockets are great when I’m in a mood for comfort food.  With flavors like Pepperoni Pizza with a Garlic Buttery Crust, or Ham & Cheese Croissants, you can’t go wrong!

Hot Pocket

Just look at that flaky crust, and all that gooey cheese and pepperoni piled in there.  Yum!

Hot Pocket

I love fixing myself a Lean Cuisine on days when I’m in the mood for something a little lighter.  I tried the Chicken with Garden Vegetables for lunch today, and it was absolutely amazing.  The chicken and vegetables tasted really fresh, and the sauce had just a bit of a kick to it.  It was so good!

Lean Cuisine

Healthy Choice Cafe Steamers are a great choice for dinner.  They are always so fresh and delicious tasting.  Can you tell I have a thing for chicken & broccoli??

This post brought to you by Tasty Bite. All opinions are 100% mine.

I love going out to the local Indian restaurants for a delicious meal, but these days I've just been too busy to find the time.  I thought I would try making Indian food at home, but I was quickly overwhelmed by all of the ingredients, and how time consuming it was.

Luckily, Tasty Bite offers several ready-to-eat Indian entrées, that make cooking Indian food at home a breeze!  Tasty Bite was established in 1995, and they now feature over 40 products, including Indian, Asian and rice products.  I was lucky enough to sample a few of these myself recently.

Tasty Bite

Now, you may think that because these entrées are pre-packaged, that they are loaded with preservatives, MSG and artificial ingredients, but that's just not the case.  Tasty Bite only uses real, non-GMO ingredients that you can actually pronounce.

Tonight, I set out to prepare an Indian meal at home, using the Indian entrées I had received from Tasty Bite – Bombay Potatoes, Madras Lentils and Tandoori Rice.  I decided to make Madras Lentils Baked Potatoes, a recipe found on Tasty Bite's website, and serve them alongside the Tandoori Rice and Bombay Potatoes.

Tasty Bite Indian

While the potatoes did take a while to bake, the remainder of my meal was done in only 5 minutes!  I simply baked the potatoes ahead of time, so that when we were ready to sit down to dinner, all I had left to prepare was the Tasty Bite entrées.

Tasty Bite Indian

To prepare the Tasty Bite entrées, you simply place the packages in boiling water for 5 minutes, and then they're done!  What could possibly be easier than that?!  Oh wait, you can also cook them in the microwave for only 90 seconds!  Seriously, this is so easy.

Tasty Bite Indian

After my Tasty Bite entrées were nice and hot, I dished them out on my plate.  I split open my baked potato and poured the Madras Lentils down on top, added a dollop of sour cream, and a sprinkle of shredded cheddar cheese.  I added a slice of Naan bread too, which went great with the Bombay Potatoes.  Yum!

Tasty Bite Indian

John and I both really enjoyed all of the Tasty Bite entrées.  They were very flavorful, and you'd never know they came from a ready-to-eat pouch if you didn't make them yourself!

You can find Tasty Bite products nationwide in retailers like Whole Foods, Costco, Kroger, and Sprouts.  Click to find at a store near you.

This post brought to you by Walmart. All opinions are 100% mine.

After moving into our new home in May, I noticed a funky smell coming from the kitchen faucet.  We have well water now, and even though the water tested fine during our home inspection, I just don’t trust it.  We are still learning about all this new homeowner stuff, but I have a feeling in my gut that some part of the water system needs servicing.  I have heard that well water has an odor to it, but I have lived in other homes with a private well before, and didn’t notice the smell this much.

We replaced our kitchen faucet a few weeks ago, hoping that might help with the problem, but the smell still lingered.  I really don’t want my family to be drinking smelly tap water, so we buy bottled water for drinking instead.

Nestle Bottled Water

Staying hydrated is especially important during these hot summer months, so we keep a pretty big stash of bottled water around.  Kayleigh and I often spend the day outside, swinging and playing in her little pool.  I always keep plenty of bottled water in the refrigerator, so we can step inside for a few minutes and cool off with a refreshing drink.

Nestle Pure Life Water

We have been on the go a lot as well this summer, so it’s really easy and convenient to just grab a few bottles of water to take with us before we hit the road.

Nestle Pure Life Water

Nestlé® Pure Life® is giving me yet another reason to stock up on my bottled water supply this summer.  The Nestlé® Pure Life® Drink Better. Live Better.™ Rewards program allows me to turn my bottled water purchases into cool rewards like coupons for more bottled water, Amazon.com gift cards, a soccer ball, lunchbox, sport chair, scooter, tickets to Universal Studios, Hollywood, a $100.00 Apple gift card, or even a one year supply of bottled water!

Just look for these specially marked packages of Nestlé® Pure Life® at Walmart, and then you can sign up for the rewards program at NestlePureLifeRewards.com.

Nestle Pure Life Rewards

Signing up for the rewards program was super quick and easy, and I was on my way to earning some great rewards!

Nestle Pure Life Rewards

In addition to earning points for purchasing Nestlé® Pure Life® Water, points can be earned in many additional ways, such as taking surveys, watching videos, and inviting friends to join the program through social networks, like Facebook.

Nestle Pure Life Rewards

I have a lot of friends and family that drink bottled water, so I was happy to share this great rewards program with them.
Nestle Pure Life Rewards

Between my bottled water purchase and the extras I did, I’m already up to 82 reward points!

Check out this adorable short video from Nestlé® Pure Life®.  Isn’t it super cute?  I can’t wait to see the things Kayleigh comes up with when she’s a bit older.    You’ve gotta love kids and their wild imaginations!

This post brought to you by Duck Brand. All opinions are 100% mine.

John and I have completed several projects around our house over the past couple of months.  We planted flowers in the flower gardens in front of our house, trimmed some trees to open up the back yard more, installed a new kitchen faucet, among other things.

One area of our home that has really been bothering me, is the bathroom closet.  Our bathroom closet is pretty good sized, with ample shelving, and had a lot of great potential.  It just didn’t look very appealing.  It was very boring, and there was a large area on the bottom that was covered in old and ugly floral patterned contact paper.  It was quite an eyesore.

Bathroom Closet Before

Because I hated our bathroom closet so much, I never really did anything with it.  I just threw our toilet paper and a few odds and ends in it, and called it good.  I was getting quite tired of looking at it in such a pathetic state, though, so I decided to give my bathroom closet a makeover.

I wanted to add a pop of color, as it was very “blah” looking with the white shelves and white walls.  Duck Brand’s Shelf Liner came to my rescue!  Walmart had a great selection of Duck Brand shelf liner colors and patterns to choose from.

I bought a few rolls of the taupe colored shelf liner, and measured and cut pieces to fit each of my shelves in the closet.  The shelf liner was so easy to work with.  I was able to cut right through it without any trouble, and it laid down flat and smooth.

John and I are really big into earthtones, and I absolutely love this taupe color.  It goes well with the rest of our home, which is painted in shades of green, blue and brown.

Duck Brand Shelf Liner

I tore the contact paper off of the bottom of my closet, and it was a huge mess underneath, just as I had suspected.

Bathroom Closet Before

I put shelf liner down on the shelf area, and then painted the rest with white paint.  After sprucing up the shelves with Duck Brand’s Shelf Liner, I decided that I couldn’t just throw my open packages of toilet paper in there anymore.  I wanted my bathroom closet to look more sophisticated and grown up.  I bought a couple of brown wire baskets to house my rolls of toilet paper, and I think it is a great improvement.

Next, I was in need of some new towels, towels that actually matched, and had matching wash cloths and hand towels.  As you can see in my before photo, I had a huge collection of mismatched towels, wash cloths and hand towels, that I have just accumulated over the last 10+ years.  I don’t even remember where most of them came from.  I bought myself a set of deep blue towels, wash cloths and hand towels, and I think they go very well with the taupe shelf liner.

Bathroom Closet After

I also bought a couple of tray boxes to house odds and ends, like hair and make up supplies.  I had been keeping them all in tote bags, which made it very difficult for me to find anything when I needed it.

Bathroom Closet After

The shelf liner not only looks pretty, but it keeps all of my things in place with its grip surface, too.  Everything was sliding around in here before, and I was constantly picking towels up off the floor.

Bathroom Closet After

Bathroom Closet After

I love my new sophisticated and grownup looking bathroom closet.  I find myself opening it up every time I walk into the bathroom now, because it’s just so pretty to look at.  My next project will be to put Duck Brand shelf liner in my kitchen drawers and cabinets!

Thank you to PEPCID® COMPLETE® for providing me with product to complete this review.  All opinions are my own.

There are certain foods that have always bothered my digestive system.  Red bell peppers, onions, spicy foods, bacon, sausage, pasta sauce…the list goes on and on.  I love to eat them, but they all give me heartburn.

When I was pregnant with Kayleigh, everything gave me heartburn.  Even something as simple as a sip of water would cause me to be in agony for the rest of the day and night.  I would have to prop myself up to a sitting position in bed because it was just too uncomfortable to lay down to sleep.  The heartburn would radiate from deep within my chest all the way up to my throat, and the burning sensation was so miserable.   And yes, she was born with a full head of hair!

Now being pregnant brought on heartburn much more in my life but I’ve had to deal with it outside of pregnancy.  I tried one of those over-the-counter, fast-acting heartburn relief aids, and while it did help almost immediately, the effects were very short lasting.  I’m talking 20-30 minutes, tops.  I would have to pop those chewables nearly all day long to get the relief I needed.  Not only was that super annoying, but they were very chalky tasting, and left a bad aftertaste in my mouth.

I could just stop eating the foods that cause my heartburn to flare up, but I’m part Italian, so I’m not about to give up my pasta sauce any time soon.  Why should I have to give up any of my favorite foods??  Instead, I’ve turned to a new heartburn relief aid, one that not only works fast, but also lasts all day.  Seriously!   This is why I was so excited to be involved in the Pepcid campaign with Mom It Forward.

Pepcid Complete Heartburn Relief

PEPCID®COMPLETE® is a dual action product that combines an antacid with an Acid Reducer, and it has done wonders for me and my heartburn.  I no longer have to experience discomfort after eating a heartburn-inducing meal, and I don’t have to pop the chewables all day long either.  Not only that, but they taste great too!  There is no chalky aftertaste like that other brand I was using before, and I really enjoy the delicious berry flavor.  It kind of reminds me of cotton candy!  There is also a mint flavor available, if you that is more your preference.

Did You Know?

  • More than 25 million adults experience heartburn daily.
  • Heartburn triggers vary from person to person, but various foods are a common trigger. Foods can trigger heartburn when the stomach reacts by increasing acid production, slowing down digestion, or inhibiting the esophageal sphincter’s ability to prevent stomach acid from going into the esophagus.
  • Common heartburn triggers include: tomatoes, fried and fatty foods, chocolate, garlic, raw onions, mints, vinegar, citrus fruits or juices, spicy foods, ketchup and mustard, and coffee.  Other common heartburn triggers include alcohol, caffeine, smoking, stress and weight.

After being out in the hot summer sun, and dealing with hard water in our new house, my skin was in need of a little rejuvenation.  While it would be really awesome to check myself into a spa for the weekend, it’s so much cheaper, and more convenient to rejuvenate your skin at home.

I decided to whip up a quick DIY facial scrub to help soften and smooth my skin.  This facial scrub is really very simple to make, and you probably already have the ingredients for it on hand.

DIY Brown Sugar & Coffee Facial Scrub

All you need for this Brown Sugar & Coffee Facial Scrub is:

6 Tablespoons of Brown Sugar

3 Coffee K-Cups (You can use 6 tablespoons of coffee if you don’t have K-Cups)

10 Tablespoons of Olive Oil

TIP:  Use flavored coffee to infuse a wonderful smell into your facial scrub.  I used caramel, and it smells heavenly!

Open the (unused) K-Cups and pour the grounds into a food processor.

Add the brown sugar, and grind the brown sugar and coffee together for a minute or two until finely ground.

Pour brown sugar and coffee mixture into a bowl, and gradually add the olive oil until you get the scrub consistency that you desire.  I like to keep mine on the thicker side.  This recipe will make enough scrub to last roughly 6 uses when used sparingly.  Store in a sealed jar.

Rejuvenate in the Shower

In addition to using this Brown Sugar & Coffee Facial Scrub, I switched out my old shower head for a Rejuvenator Micro Bubble Hand Held Showerhead.  This is not just any shower head, though.  The Rejuvenator generates millions of tiny microbubbles that naturally cleanse, exfoliate, and rejuvenate the skin, for a healthier look.  It’s really like having a spa experience at home in the shower every day!

Rejuvenator Showerhead

As the water hits my skin when I shower, it just somehow feels lighter than it used to with my old showerhead.  I don’t feel like it is just bouncing off of my skin, but I feel like it’s actually cleansing it deep within.  Since using the Rejuvenator, I have noticed that my skin feels softer, and it takes less time for me to wash the shampoo and conditioner out of my hair than it used to.

The Rejuvenator was really easy to install, and you can even keep your old shower head up alongside the Rejuvenator if you want to.  You can switch between them, or you can use them at the same time.

Rejuvenator Showerhead

Another great thing about using the Rejuvenator, is that it uses 30-40% less water than traditional shower heads. That’s great for the environment, and your wallet, too!

Disclosure:I received this product at no cost, in exchange for my honest review and opinion.

You’ll love this DIY Wedding Card Box!

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Krazy Glue. All opinions are 100% mine. This post contains affiliate links and I may earn a commission if you make a purchase after clicking a link in this post.

John and I are getting married in September, so I’ve been frantically shopping for centerpieces, favors and decorations.  There is so much to do, and so little time!

One thing I needed to get was a wedding card box to put on the gift table.  All of the wedding card boxes I found online were so expensive, so I decided I would just try to make a DIY wedding card box. I’m all about saving money whenever I can. A wedding card box seemed like an easy enough thing to make myself.

DIY Wedding Card Box

I started with a wooden box I found at AC Moore, which is just the right size to hold cards.

Wedding Card Box

The box was unfinished, so I painted it with white acrylic paint.

Our colors are light and navy blue, so I bought some wood letters and painted the letters to spell out CARDS with a light blue acrylic paint.

I added light blue flowers, and blue and clear gemstones to the box for some decoration, and I dressed it up even more by adding light blue and navy blue ribbon.

This project was a lot of fun to do, and the total cost was somewhere around $35.00, which I don’t think was too bad, plus I have lots of ribbon, embellishments & Krazy Glue leftover for other projects!

All of the ribbon and other embellishments were added to my wood box with Krazy Glue.

Krazy Glue

I had to wait a while for my paint to dry, but I didn’t have to wait for my embellishments to dry!  The Krazy Glue really made this project so easy to do.  Just a small dab of Krazy Glue was enough to keep my embellishments in place on the wood box.  It took me less than 20 minutes to put the embellishments on my painted box, and most of that time was me just trying to figure out where I wanted to place everything.  Krazy strong, Krazy fast, Krazy Glue really allows you to create masterpieces in minutes!

Krazy Glue works on porcelain, pottery, plastic, rubber, metal and glass, or vinyl. It eliminates the need for glue guns and other expensive tools.  The tube is so small, that it’s easy to store. It won’t take up too much space in your craft supply box, tool box, purse, or kitchen drawer.

Krazy Glue’s unique craft products bond the smallest, most delicate design elements. It has the same strength and speed that make Krazy Glue America’s #1 instant adhesive.  So, instead of reaching for the glue gun, next time reach for Krazy Glue instead!  There’s no need to heat anything up.  You simply take off the cap and you’re ready to go!

You can tackle your larger projects with Krazy Glue’s new 20 gram gel formula.  The gel formula allows you to glue vertical surfaces with no runny mess and fill in gaps when bonding mismatched surfaces.

Unlike glue guns, there’s no chance of you burning yourself, making a huge mess, or getting glue strands all over your craft project with Krazy Glue. The Skin Guard™ formula also delays skin bonding, giving you extra working time before the glue dries!

Don’t you just love this DIY Wedding Card Box?

Now, I’m searching the web for ideas to make my own centerpieces using Krazy Glue!

What craft projects would you use Krazy Glue for?  Check out the Krazy Glue Pinterest Board for inspiration!
