John and I moved into our new home recently, and we’ve been doing a lot of work around the yard to spruce it up a bit. I just love springtime, and all that it has to offer. We’ve been hard at work planting flowers, and have enjoyed watching the beautiful birds and butterflies in our yard.
We had some rainy days last week, so I didn’t get to spend as much time as I wanted to outside. I didn’t let that get me down, though! I recently received a 6 Speed Stand Mixer and Soft Scrape 6 Speed hand mixer from Hamilton Beach, so I thought I’d bake up some spring goodies in the kitchen, too!
The 6 Speed Stand Mixer is really great. I like that it is small in size, so it doesn’t really take up too much counter space. It also has suction cups on the bottom, so that it won’t slide around on you either. It has a powerful 300 watt motor, and the mixing action gives complete bowl coverage which I really love. This mixer also has 6 different speed settings and a special fold setting as well.
It includes a flat beater, whisk and dough hook to offer mixing versatility. So, no matter what you’re looking to bake up, this mixer will help you get the job done in a jiff!
I decided to make some cut-out sugar cookies in the shape of flowers and butterflies. What’s more “springy” than that?? I used this awesome recipe for Vanilla-Almond Sugar Cookies from Bake at 350. I absolutely love her blog. Have you checked it out yet?? She decorates the most beautiful sugar cookies I have ever seen in my life. My hands are too shaky for intricate work like she does, but I think my springtime sugar cookies came out pretty good.
This dough was so easy to whip up in the Hamilton Beach 6 Speed Stand Mixer, and was incredibly easy to work with, too. The cookies are just perfect for icing.
After I baked up the sugar cookies and decorated them with icing and edible pearls, I got to work on the chocolate cupcakes. I used a delicious recipe from Sally’s Baking Addiction. The Hamilton Beach Soft Scrape 6 Speed Hand Mixer mixed up the batter very quickly. I could not believe the power that this little hand mixer has!
I also really like that the Soft Scrape attachments incorporate the ingredients so well, that I don’t have to continuously stop to scrape the bowl. They also won’t scratch up bowls or nonstick pots.
Another great feature of the Hamilton Beach 6 Speed Soft Scrape Hand Mixer, is that it has a case that attaches to the bottom of it, which you can easily store the attachments and cord in.
After the cupcakes cooled, I frosted them with green frosting to look like grass, and placed them in these cute Wilton cupcake wrappers. Then, I placed my sugar cookies on top. I think they came out pretty good! They tasted great, too! I’ll certainly be doing a lot of baking this summer, now that I have two great mixers from Hamilton Beach to help me get the job done fast!
