Happy New Year, everyone! I hope you all had a wonderful holiday with your families. I’ve been taking a bit of a break from blogging recently to relax and enjoy spending time with my family.
We celebrated Kayleigh’s very first Christmas last week. She’s 7 months old, so not really old enough to understand what’s going on, but we still had fun. I am really excited for Christmas with her this year! This post contains affiliate links, and I will receive compensation if you make a purchase after clicking on my links.
We started our day off by waking up at about 8:30am. It felt nice to sleep in a little, as we are normally up by 6:30. Kayleigh enjoyed her oatmeal and pears, while John and I had coffee, scrambled eggs, apple slices and Overnight French Toast Casserole. I found this recipe on Pinterest, and it turned out absolutely amazing! If you like French toast, you must try this!!
After breakfast, we let Kayleigh open her gifts from Santa, and the ones that John’s Dad, Step-mom and brothers and sister sent down from Canada. Her big gift from Santa was this Fisher Price Laugh & Learn Crawl Around Car. She loves it! It plays songs and makes all kinds of noises. One of the car doors opens and closes, and there are holes in the side to put shaped blocks into.
We had originally planned on staying home, just the three of us, for a pretty uneventful Christmas day. My Mom had to work until 1:30, and my parents live an hour away. We had also been going through an ice storm since the Saturday before Christmas, so we didn’t plan on driving anywhere too far. The weather cleared up very nicely on Christmas day, though, so we decided to take a trip up to visit my parents, and surprise my Mom. I could tell she was really disappointed that she would not see any of her children or grandchildren on Christmas. Neither of my sisters were able to make it up. So, we headed up and got there around 1:30.
Mom got home from work at around 2pm, and was quite surprised to see us there. We definitely made her day, and we had a lot of fun relaxing and opening gifts. Kayleigh got a few more really nice toys. She loves her new VTech Touch and Swipe Baby Phone. She is always trying to steal our cell phones, so now she has her very own to play with! She also got a Baby’s Learning Laptop from VTech. She loves to “help” me blog, so now she can blog along on her own laptop!
Another favorite gift was the Fisher-Price Laugh & Learn Love to Play Puppy. She loves squeezing him and listening to him talk to her.
John, Kayleigh and I headed back home at around 5pm, and just relaxed for the rest of the evening. We rented the movie 2 Guns with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg on Amazon Instant Video. Kayleigh was pretty fussy through the movie, so I didn’t really get to pay too much attention to it, but John seemed to like it.
And, that wrapped up our Christmas!
What did you and your family do for Christmas this year?
