Last weekend, John and I took Kayleigh to an apple orchard for the first time.  We’ve been really excited all summer for harvest season to finally get here so we could bring her.  We live about 10 minutes from an orchard that we’ve visited several times in the past, but my sister landed a job in the bakery at a different orchard this year, so we decided to check that one out instead.

Since it was the first picking weekend of the season, not all of the apple trees were quite ready.  We hopped on a tractor, and were brought to one location in the orchard where there were about 4-5 large trees that we could pick from.  Kayleigh and I watched as John filled up 2 large bags with apples.  I can’t wait to go back to the orchard again when their pumpkins are ready to be picked!

I love fall, because there are so many wonderful fall harvest recipes out there for apples, pumpkins, squash, and other hearty vegetables.  These kinds of foods make me feel so warm and cozy inside, and they make my house smell so wonderful!

Here’s a list of some great fall harvest recipes that I’d love to try out this year!
