My dear, sweet Kayleigh,
I simply cannot believe you are 3 months old today. The time has flown by so quickly! It seems like only yesterday your Daddy and I were in the hospital eagerly awaiting your arrival. It was a long 24 hour labor, but so completely worth it. I would do it all over again just to have you!
Over the last 3 months, I have watched you grow so much. When you came home from the hospital, you were just a little peanut, weighing less than 7 pounds. You could not lift your head at all, and you pretty much slept all day, and cried all night.
Now, 3 months later, you weigh more than 10 pounds, and you are holding your head up on your own so well. You enjoy tummy time (most of the time, anyway). You’ve rolled over by yourself 3 times already, and you’re cutting a whole bunch of teeth!
You are also now sleeping for much longer periods of time, and wake up at around 3:30-4:00am most nights. Your Daddy and I love watching you sleep. You snore louder than your Daddy most nights! We also love watching the startle reflex that you still have. It’s so adorable. We remember seeing it for the first time when you first sneezed. You just didn’t know what to make of that!
You are now able to sit up in your Bumbo seat and highchair like a big girl. The TV also holds your attention.
You have the prettiest smile I have ever seen, and I’m so lucky that I get to see it quite often. You are such a happy baby.
We’ve been working on saying “Mama” for quite some time now, and I swear you are getting so close! Sometimes when you are crying out, I honestly think I hear you cry for me by name. Daddy heard it last night too.
Speaking of Daddy… you’ve got him wrapped around your little finger. He loves you to pieces. You enjoy listening to him read Dr. Seuss books to you. We can’t wait until you’re old enough to follow along, and start reading them yourself!
I will write to you again in 3 months, when you will be 6 months old. I can’t even imagine how much you will have grown by then. Until then, I will cherish each and every day I get to spend with you. Being your Mom has been the best, most rewarding job in the entire world, and I wouldn’t trade it for anything.
I love you so much Kayleigh Marie.
