Choosing the right wedding songs for your big day is so important. The music that’s played at your wedding will really set the tone for the event, and you want to make sure that your guests feel relaxed and have fun.

My husband, John, and I got married in our back yard a couple years ago. We wanted a small, casual outdoor wedding at our home, and we had a blast! We were working with a very small budget, so we kept things pretty low-key.  One of the ways we saved money was by making a playlist of wedding songs that we loved and hooking up a sound system outside. This saved so much money, since we did not have to hire a DJ or a band. If you do choose to hire a DJ or a band, though, you could always request them to play any of the songs below.

Here’s a list of some of the great wedding songs that we played at our wedding. These are all relaxing, feel-good songs, so if you’re looking for The Macarena, Funky Chicken or Love Shack, you’re in the wrong place!  I’ll be adding more wedding songs to the list as they come to me, so keep checking back!

Enjoy!  :)

  2. I love so many of these, specially Train’s Marry Me and Jack Johnson’s Better Together.

  3. Congratulations! I love your list. I have many of the same songs chosen for my upcoming June wedding. Darlene Love’s, “(Today I Met) The Boy I’m Going to Marry, UB40’s “I Got You” (instead of Sonny and Cher), and Coldplay’s, “Reign of Love” are a few of my favorites.
