Today, I am 20 weeks pregnant! Some days I can’t believe I’m already half-way there, and others I can’t believe I’m only half-way there! The first few months of this pregnancy were very rough on me. I had a Vitamin D deficiency, so I was extremely tired all.the.time. I’d get home from work at 5:30, and pass out before I could even get dinner started. The weekends weren’t any better. I’d wake up for a couple of hours, and then go back to bed for a (6 hour) nap. Not only was I exhausted, but I was sick too! My morning sickness was definitely worse at night time, but it struck at different times during the day too. Brushing my teeth was nearly impossible to do without throwing up.
Fast forward to now, and I’m feeling much less tired (after taking Vitamin D every day), and the nausea went away completely at about 12-13 weeks. Now I’m just dealing with a lot of sciatic nerve pain. It radiates from my back, to my butt, to my legs. Not much fun at all!
John and I went to our BIG appointment on Monday this week, the 20 week ultrasound appointment! We were SO anxious and excited to find out if we were having a boy or a girl. Part of me really wanted a boy, only because I have several friends with little boys right now, so it would have been really fun to have play dates, but we knew we’d be very happy with either a boy or a girl, as long as he or she was healthy.
Much to our relief, we were told that the baby was perfectly healthy. The baby had its little hands and feet up by its face for most of the ultrasound, so the technician was having a hard time getting that “money shot”. She had me change positions, go to the bathroom to empty my bladder, and poked at my belly to try to get the baby to move. Finally, SHE did! That’s right, we are having a little baby girl!!
20 WEEK ULTRASOUND
Isn’t she just beautiful already??
This is my favorite of the ultrasound pics. I can see her cute little nose, her hand up by her face, and her mouth is open. I keep opening it up and just gazing at her in wonder. We are so very excited to meet her, to see what she looks like, to hold her and cuddle with her. We’ve decided to name her Kayleigh. May can’t come soon enough!!!
How far along are you in your pregnancy? Do you know if you are having a boy or a girl?
